Factory workers in Malaysia at the start of a morning shift

Ujrah · Gaji Patuh Syariah

Wages already earned, available before payday.

Ujrah helps employers in Malaysia give their people early access to pay they've already worked for. Workers pay nothing for the advance, and the structure is designed to be Shariah compliant from the first line of the ledger.

Most people in Malaysia are paid once a month. School fees, a clinic visit or a motorbike repair don't wait for that date. Ujrah lets employers give their people part of what they've already earned, when they need it, at no cost to them.

The gap

Bills don't wait for the 28th.

61%

of Malaysians can't raise RM1,000 for an emergency.

Bank Negara Malaysia, 2024

For workers, the days before payday get covered with costly stopgaps that keep costing after the salary arrives.

For employers, salary advances already happen. By hand, from company cash, with no record and no consistent rule.

The people it's built for.

How it works

Three steps on each side. Payroll stays the same.

Workers

  1. 1See what you've earned so far this month, updated every day.
  2. 2Withdraw part of it, within the limit your employer sets.
  3. 3It reaches your salary account the next business day. The same amount comes off on payday.

Employers

  1. 1Share your payroll file once a month. No system integration to start.
  2. 2Choose who's eligible and set the limits.
  3. 3Ujrah funds every advance. You add one deduction line on payday.
Shariah structure

Two contracts, kept apart on purpose.

We charge employers for running the service. We never charge workers for the advance itself, and the two never touch.

The name

Ujrah is the Arabic word for wages.

In Islamic finance it also means the fee paid for a service. That's how we're paid: by employers, for running the service.

1

A bowl shaped like a U.

It holds what your work has earned.

2

It fills as the month goes on.

The gold is the part you can take now. It's the same colour as the bar at the top of this page.

3

Together they spell Ujrah.

The bowl stands in for the U, so the mark is never used without it.
